DIGITAL STORYTELLING
The projects featured below demonstrate my multimodal digital storytelling skills. I have created and managed content for a mobile engagement app to enhance in-person gallery experiences and provide access to exhibitions online. I have also managed digital assets associated with 3D scans of gallery spaces. Years of experience in media pre-production, production, and post-production have made me a flexible and competent content creator.
I create and manage content for a digital engagement app to enhance in-person visits to galleries and allow access to those who otherwise would not be able to visit. The app is available both as an iOS and web version. You can explore it at the provided link (best viewed on mobile).
The primary function of the IU Collects app is to provide a landing page for the digital versions of in-person exhibitions, as well as born-digital exhibitions that allow access to otherwise hidden collections. I generally photograph objects, edit text, and determine logical order for these digital exhibits to provide a coherent story. I also enjoy the ability to add additional features, such as audio and video that may not have space in the physical exhibition.
My favorite aspect of digital engagement is to creatively solve how to provide engaging, in-person-like experiences for online audiences. The examples above show how I photographed through kaleidoscopes to allow digital visitors to "look through" them, showed both sides of postcards you could only see one side of displayed, allowed digital visitors to "build" an interactive puzzle in the exhibition online with a swipe, and to do their own born-digital puzzle of a displayed work.

Mobile Engagement App
I have created and managed content for a visitor engagement app for a space with multiple galleries. The app increases accessibility of exhibitions and collections through images, text, audio, and additional content. Explore the app through links in the image descriptions.
3D Space Content
I have also managed content for 3D tours of the same space with multiple galleries. The scans were captured by the IU3D team and uploaded to Matterport, where images and text can be tagged to create an immersive exhibition experience for digital audiences.
I also create and manage content for 3D tours of exhibitions for a more immersive experience for online audiences. I organized the capture of these scans through the IU3D team, and then accessed the Matterport backend once uploaded to add the relevant information.
Another important aspect of 3D tours is ensuring smooth navigation. Ordering "stops" properly in Matterport helps online audiences navigate these sometimes overwhelming spaces, as well as highlighting individual galleries within the full-building scan. Once in a space, online visitors can click on "tags" to get more information about the objects, all content that needs to be individually uploaded.
3D tours, like digital exhibits, provide opportunities to link online audiences to additional information. For example, videos on display in exhibitions can be linked to. Additional information about event spaces, such as audio and technology capabilities, can also be shared with interested parties.

I contributed majorly to the University Collections website redesign, logically ordering complex information about disparate groups and services to aid users. I also photographed most assets for the website.
The "Current and Archived Exhibits" webpage on the University Collections website was a particular focus for me, as it is the launchpad for all digital exhibits and 3D tours. I designed a mockup in Illustrator before sending it to the IU Research web design team to ensure it came out exactly how I wanted.
While studying at the University of Adelaide in Australia, I took a digital storytelling class and came up with this project, the "Found Objects of Adelaide" blog. This blog gave me an excuse to explore the city and write about interesting objects, while linking to more in depth information.

Web Design
I am an experienced user of web design platforms such as Wix and Wordpress. I have also mocked up designs for other websites, most significantly the University Collections website. Web design requires well-developed information design skills.
Photography
I have been doing portrait photography since grade school, and as a designer who is often responsible for gathering my own content have also become an events and objects photographer. I am experienced in planning, taking, and editing photographs.
I have been doing portrait photography since grade school, and enjoy it especially. I most often use it in the workplace for artist and curator profiles, as well as for staff directories.
I have been photographing events for more than a decade, from donor dinners to concerts to exhibition openings. I enjoy capturing the emotions of people in the midst of new and engaging experiences. These photographs are often used in promotional materials.
As mentioned previously, I also do asset photography, both in the workplace and by commission outside of work. Compelling images greatly enhance both physical and digital promotional materials.

During my time at Indiana University, I produced content for American Student Radio. I enjoyed creating engaging audio spaces by combining edited interviews, music, and ambient sound. These pieces aired on local radio stations.
I have further honed my audio skills by adding audio to many of the IU Collects app digital exhibits (a work in progress). I often narrate myself, but have found it even more enjoyable to interview living artists or ask them to narrate their own words. These audio clips greatly enhance the online audience experience. You can explore the IU Collects app at the provided link for audio clip examples (best viewed on mobile).

Audio
My love of audio storytelling began with producing pieces for American Student Radio. I have since discovered the ways audio content can enhance digital exhibitions and increase accessibility for users. I am experienced in planning, capturing, and editing audio.
Video
While working for The Bloomington Project School, I created a series of documentary videos to engage stakeholders. I have also experimented with increasing interest in collections through augmented reality. I am experienced in directing, producing, and editing video.
I directed and produced a series of documentary videos for The Bloomington Project School. I combined interviews with B-roll footage and music to create a cohesive story that would be compelling to donors and other stakeholders. You can watch the most-viewed video at the provided link, and explore the other videos on TPS's YouTube channel, which I also initiated.
I created a basic animation of the cover of this "Vault of Horror" comic featuring a story by Ray Bradbury, which is triggered by scanning the object (or a facsimile) with the Artivive app. Try it out! The audio features me narrating a letter written by Bradbury that is part of the Ray Bradbury Center collection, along with the comic issue owned by the author himself. This was a novel way to combine objects in an augmented reality space to engage visitors.
